My reaction to this novel...

Every now and again, you read a novel that takes your breath away and leaves you in tears. The Last Letter from Your Lover swept me away. I was torn between wanting it to end and not comprehending it. It is, at its heart, a love story. An enlightening and reassuring story about pursuing your aspirations no matter the cost. It’s hard to escape the mysterious finger of fate phenomena of being at the wrong place at the wrong time, which seems to play a regular role in our lives.

A big portion of the novel takes place in 1960s London and should be seen through the eyes of the time. The story moves back and forth during the vast spans of Jennifer and Antony’s life. Anthony is a foreign policy writer, and Jennifer is the wife of a wealthy businessman. As the title implies, everything begins with a letter, a love note that will have readers enthralled by the story’s flow.

Jojo Moyes’ work inspires me and makes me want to read more. Moving ahead, Jojo has written a story about a tumultuous relationship. However, no matter how intense the energy between Jennifer Stirling and Anthony O’Hare is, they can’t see it as a means to open up to one another. By all accounts, the circumstances are never ideal. That finger of fate I mentioned before intervenes and sets insurmountable obstacles in their path. As a reader, I hoped that these two people who were destined to be together would find a way to love and be together at this point in time. I strongly advise you to read The Last Letter from Your Lover and feel the intense love for yourself. It has a writing style that jumps back and forth between 1960 and 2003, which keeps the reader interested and wanting to turn the pages to find out what occurs next. The conclusion is a triumph against the rigid social gap that separated the major protagonists. This is a book that you will not be able to put down for even a second.

For me, I will definitely recommend it to every book readers out there.
