At the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai on Wednesday morning, hundreds of voracious readers waited in line early for Asia's largest annual book exhibition.
The first 250 individuals in line were directed to wait at the main entrance of the exhibition hall 30 minutes before the Hong Kong Book Fair 2022 opened its doors, while others were sent to higher floors. The Covid-19 "Leave Home Safe" app and vaccination pass had to be scanned by each guest.
One of the early birds was a clerk named Lee Wai-man, 48. She had the day off, and when she arrived at 6.30am, she was fifth in line. She claimed that compared to previous year, things were less hectic. She was looking for a health book written by her favorite author, nutritionist Sylvia Lam, who also happened to be actress Skye Chan Sin-yeung.
